The Oxford Street East scheme has been carefully designed to deliver an improved visitor experience for all through the following works:

• A clutter free, well lit public realm;
• Supporting economic development by "spreading the spend" - encouraging use of cross streets and nearby spaces;
• Improved legibility and way finding;
• Reduction in traffic accidents (all types), improved perception of safety and actual reductions in crime and ASB,
• Additional parking and dedicated delivery bays,
• More trees and seating in the ORB area,
• A greatly enhanced ease of independent access for those with disabilities;
• Possibly faster journey times for all users;
• Reduced wear and tear of the highway and vehicles
