Project Overview
Westminster City Council consulted local residents, businesses and market traders on a series of options for improving the Tachbrook Street and Warwick Way district shopping area.
The Civic Streets project is part of the Council’s City Recovery Programme. It aims to improve the street environment and boost the local economy.
Key aspects of the proposals were identified that could be programmed in separate phases. These options included:
- Parking / loading / storage requirements
- Re-arranging market stalls / and gazebos
- Market management and Licensing
- Install lighting / power / water
- Regular themed markets
- Ground works improvements to surface materials
- Cycle parking / tree planting and street clutter reduction
Therefore different phases (construction works) of the project commenced and finished at different times with overlapping of works on different stages.
