This road safety scheme on St Johns High Street at its junction with Wellington Place is being developed to implement road safety features to encourage more active modes of travel to and from the nearby schools and businesses. We are introducing an innovative 3D Zebra Crossing and a raised pedestrian platform that will provide a far greater level of safety and service for road users especially vulnerable road users.

The main objectives of the scheme are:

• Improving pedestrians’ safety by designing an innovative 3D Zebra Crossing point.
• Providing new raised pedestrian platform on Wellington Place to reduce vehicles speed and obtain safer crossing movements;
• Providing new kerb buildouts on the southern and eastern side of the junction to protect and reduce pedestrian crossing;
