Project Overview

Westminster City Council has commissioned its service provider, FM Conway Limited, to undertake improvement works along the Green Park side of Piccadilly between the Bomber Command Memorial and Green Park Station.
The works are planned to start on the 21st January 2019 and will be completed by the 13th December 2019. The works which are scheduled to be undertaken in four phases and will include the following:

  • Removing the temporary steel security barriers;
  • Replacing the existing Green Park wall, gates and railings with new granite clad plinth wall, new railings and new gates;
  • Removing existing hedges and planting new hedges;
  • Renewal of existing footway paving for the length of public footpath along Green Park side from Bomber Command Memorial to Green Park Station; and
  • Installation of new tree pits with resin bound gravel infills.
During each phase of the works, a westbound lane closure will be required on Piccadilly to complete the works. Pedestrians’ routes will be provided whilst works are being carried out on the footway and the signalled pedestrian crossings along Piccadilly will remain fully operational during the works. Where bus stop and bus stands will be impacted, temporary bus stop and bus stands will be provided nearby. Temporary traffic signs and safety barriers will be installed throughout the works.
Improvements works are scheduled to be carried out 21st January 2019 to 13th December 2019 in four phases.
