Project Overview

Westminster City Council, in partnership with the Victoria Business Improvement District, is redeveloping Christchurch Gardens on Victoria Street to offer an attractive public outdoor space for local residents, workers, and visitors.

The new arrangement, designed to create an engaging and enjoyable space and to discourage anti-social behaviour, will offer:

• Inviting footpaths through the gardens, connecting to key routes in the surrounding urban area, such as Strutton Ground market.
• Accessible lawns providing flexible open spaces for seating and activities.
• Various seating opportunities in carefully selected locations offering numerous places to sit and enjoy the gardens.
• New lighting improving safety and security after dark and the legibility of the space.
• Diverse planting with extended flowering periods of pollinator friendly plants to enhance biodiversity in the gardens.
