Seymour Place Zebra Crossing

Seymour Place Zebra Crossing

Ward: Bryanston and Dorset Square

Streets Affected: Bryanston Place, Crawford Street, Seymour Place

Project Type: Traffic, Safety & Parking

Project Overview

The City Council received a request from a local residents association to improve the pedestrian crossing facilities on Seymour Place between its junctions with Bryanston Place and Crawford Street.

A study revealed the most effective measure for improving the crossing facilities was to remove the existing traffic island, which did not serve pedestrians well, and to install a new Zebra crossing close to that location.

The works included:-

  • Removal of the existing traffic island close to proposed crossing point.
  • Installation of a new Zebra crossing.
  • Installation of anti-skid road surfacing on the approaches to the crossing.
  • Relocation of existing cycle racks to a new location on Seymour Place.
