Project Overview
Westminster City Council, in partnership with the New West End Company, is working to make Bond Street more attractive and welcoming for residents, businesses and visitors to the area.
The project will deliver a fully revitalised street environment that will better connect Bond Street to the wider Mayfair area and create a unique environment where people will want to spend time and businesses will seek to locate.
By repaving and widening footways using high quality materials, resurfacing the road, installing new street lighting and reducing street clutter, the project is delivering significant improvements that maintain Bond Street’s status as a world class destination for the purchase of high quality goods.
Current Progress
Works commenced on site in April 2017, the majority of the works are now complete, with only two remaining phases to follow in 2019.
Before and after photos of Old Bond Street, Piccadilly junction and the Town Square.The remaining works will take place on Workstream 6, a section of New Bond Street immediately south of the junction with Oxford Street, and Workstream 9, a section adjacent to the Crossrail works site. Restricted Parking Zone
Westminster City Council has implemented changes to parking and loading arrangements which are key to the delivery of the project. These changes will enable parking and loading activity to be better managed while providing more space for pedestrians at certain times of the day through the provision of time-controlled shared loading and parking pads on the footways. The Restricted Parking Zone (RPZ) was introduced in September 2018 and is now fully implemented. For further information on the RPZ, a copy of the leaflet can be found below.LEAFLET
Three Project Briefing sessions have been held for Workstreams 1 & 3, 4 & 5 and 7 & 8. These sessions are intended to allow local businesses and residents to find out more about the proposals and how the improvements will be delivered.
