Ward: St James's
Streets Affected: Charing Cross Road, Cranbourn Street
Project Type: Streetscape
Project Overview
The City Council undertook an initial design study to improve the streetscape in Cranbourn Street between Upper St Martin’s Lane and Charing Cross Road.
The scheme involved the repaving of the footway in York stone and resurfacing of the carriageway between its junctions with Charing Cross Road and St Martin's Lane. The conversion of the existing taxi rank on the northern side into shared use bays also took place and involved the raising of the bay to footway level and paving with granite setts.
