Project Overview
SMART Lights is a project whose aim is to reduce the Council’s public lighting energy bill, lower their associated carbon footprint, and improve the service level. This will be delivered through changes in working practice brought about by the use of new technology, maintenance savings and revised energy procurement methods.
SMART Lights will enable a proactive, interactive and dynamic lighting solution to meet the requirements of the environment at any given time. The lighting should illuminate the streets to the required level and no more through trimming, dimming and dynamic lighting. Energy management is critical and using SMART Light technology combined with good asset management will enable an average energy saving of 20% with an associated saving in the carbon footprint.
