Project Overview

A scheme to improve the public realm in James Street, Covent Garden, upgrading the stepped area outside Nos 2 to 9 James Street.  The proposed scheme includes:

• replacement of the steps with new granite steps
• a sunken seating area at the Floral Street end of the stepped area
• brass planters
• illuminated brass handrails

To date the steps and sunken seating area have been constructed.  The brass planters and handrails will be installed in June 2020.

In addition, 5 trees have been removed from James Street.  These will be replanted elsewhere in Covent Garden in early 2020.

Works completed

Outline Programme

First phase completed in May 2019. Second phase to complete works will being in June 2020 with completion expected in the same month.
