Project Overview

Westminster City Council has commissioned its service provider, FM Conway Limited, to undertake public realm improvement works on Chepstow Road and Talbot Road, W2, London. The works will include the following:

• Upgraded traffic signal equipment;
• Introduction of new footway buildouts in new Artificial Stone Paving (ASP) to more effectively position the required traffic signal equipment, and provide larger pedestrian waiting areas;
• New footway paving in ASP;
• New granite kerb throughout;
• New tactile paving at pedestrian crossings;
• New carriageway resurfacing in hot rolled asphalt (HRA), with buff colour high friction surface at the crossing points;
• Upgraded lighting; and
• Relocated gully pots with new cycle-friendly gully gratings and frames.

Outline Programme

• Phase 1 (footway works): starting on 11th October 2021 for six weeks to 19th November 2021, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm;
• Phase 2 (traffic lights commissioning): starting on 22nd October 2021 for two to 3rd December 2021, between 08:00 am - 17:00 pm; and
• Phase 3 (carriageway work): to be carried out in two different visits:
• Surfacing: starting on 6th December 2022 for two days to 7th December 2021, between 20:00 pm - 06:00 am.
• Antiskid implementation: to start and be completed on the same day 17th January 2022, between 20:00 pm - 06:00 am.
